SOULCORE LEADER – MARY

I have been a Catholic all my life. I attended Catholic elementary school, then public high school. I have been married 17 years. We have been in our current parish 7 years. Each year we get more involved in parish life. We usually attend daily Mass. Easier since I’ve retired from my teaching position, and my husband is able to schedule Mass into his day. We have just joined the church decorating committee. We enjoyed decorating the church for Christmas. We’ve taught Faith Formation together, I the teacher and my husband: my handsome helper! I am Immaculate Conception’s Mary Garden coordinator. Our parish has a beautiful grotto with a statue of Mary and St. Bernadette in a garden along side the church. And now I am a SoulCore leader along with two other awesome ladies! As we get more involved, we’ve meet more and more beautiful people! It has been a joy. Working on our SoulCore meditations has encouraged me to read and look up bible passages, as well as meditations on the internet. It has been a wonderful journey. I am learning more and appreciating more as time goes on. The three of us have worked together on the readings and the movements. We’ve have some of the parish ladies (and one gentleman) join us to critique us. Again, getting to know more members of the parish is ‘priceless’! SoulCore fits perfectly into my life as I enjoy being active and am striving to improve my prayer life.

MARY’S FAVORITE SCRIPTURE VERSE: 

I don’t have a favorite scripture verse, but I love the phrase, “Jesus, I trust in You”. I looked up scripture verses dealing with trust, and these two resonated with me: Psalm 56:3 “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” Matthew 6:25-27, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your live, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into by barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you being anxious can add a single hour to this span of life.” I find comfort in these and in the phrase, “Jesus, I trust in You.”

SOULCORE LEADER – ANN

I am truly blessed to be a cradle Catholic, part of a large Catholic family and married into an even larger Catholic family. Through all life’s ups and downs, our shared faith has sustained us.

We joined the Immaculate Conception Parish family in 2008. It is an engaging and lively community. My love and understanding of our faith has grown through participation in Bible studies, Divine Mercy study and outreach, Vacation Bible School, grade school faith formation and as an RCIA sponsor.

A 3 member team was formed to introduce SoulCore to our parish. It has been a positive, faith-filled experience for both the instructors and the practice group. The reverent, thoughtful meditations have encouraged a deeper insight and appreciation of the Rosary for all of us. We look forward to sharing SoulCore with the whole community.
