SOULCORE LEADER – MARIA

My name is Maria Hacker. I am a Catholic wife and mother of two girls, Lindsey, age 13,
and Jocelyn, age 9. I have been a Catholic since infancy. My husband, John, and I have
been married for 17 years and he has recently converted to the Catholic faith. After
completing the RCIA program, he received his Sacraments of Initiation this past July.
We are raising our children in the Catholic faith and are actively guiding them in their
faith formation. Our family lives in Naugatuck, CT.

I feel very strongly that active faith formation must include prayer and service to others. I
have spent the past 20 years as an audiologist where I have been blessed with the
knowledge and education to be able to help people with hearing disabilities to hear and
communicate better thus improving their quality of life. In addition to my career as an
audiologist I spend time volunteering at my parish, St. Vincent Ferrer Church. I am a
worker with the Sisters of Life and have participated in the 40 Days for Life Campaign. I
also assist with fundraising and distribution of supplies to the local homeless population
through the Brian O’Connell Homeless Project and the St. Vincent DePaul homeless
shelter and soup kitchen. I assist with the faith formation of the youth in our community
as a catechist at our local church’s CCD program.

I have a great love of the Rosary and devotion to our Blessed Mother. She is always
there for me in every moment of my life calling me to become closer to her Son. I am
excited to become a SoulCore leader so that I can integrate fitness and prayer together
to assist others in improving their spiritual, physical, and psychological wellbeing and
most importantly to help others to build a relationship with Jesus through
Mary and praying the Rosary.
