JENNIFER KATHRYN BODIE is a cradle Catholic revert who made her Sacrament of Confirmation at the ripe age of 38. She is a 1993 graduate of The University of South Carolina where she met her best friend and now husband, Russ. They have three amazing (and intense) almost adult children. They are active Parishioners at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church in Pawleys Island, SC. She is a habitual dog walker and enjoys quality coffee, gluten/dairy free baked goods, and dark chocolate for breakfast. Jen relishes quiet candlelit prayer time with pen & journal in hand.
She takes forever to complete reading a book because she prefers deep analytical discussions with faithful friends or tidying the house. Jen lives by the slogans “One day at a time,” “His mercies are new every morning,” and her favorite quote is Saint Augustine’s “Our hearts are restless until they rest in Thee.”
After years of overdoing it through running, yoga and golf for fitness, Jen found balance in walking with prayer, stretching and toning on a mat surrounded by candles and Rosary beads, and short jogs while counting the Mysteries! Little did she know that during those same years SoulCore was being Divinely inspired within two women’s hearts across the states! God is good and our lives are synchronized with His beauty and perfect timing. A friend sent a link to a SoulCore Retreat in Florida one February, and Jen couldn’t wait to sign up and learn more. The rest is in God’s hands.
A FEW OF JENNIFER’S FAVORITE SCRIPTURE VERSES:
Psalm 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, my Lord.”
Romans 12:1-2 “I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Isaiah 55:8,9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts then your thoughts.”
My name is Tara Joseph. I am a wife and mom of four children (ages 16, 14, 12, and 6). We live in beautiful Pawleys Island, SC and are blessed with a lively Catholic parish at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church. My husband works with his cousin in a dental practice a few miles from home in Georgetown, SC and is in formation for the Permanent Diaconate in our diocese. Tim and I will be married 18 years this June and I just celebrated my 18th year as a Catholic this past April. We are an active household with soccer, basketball and volleyball players, runners, artists, and a whole lot of extended family activities! Although life is busy, the importance of living out our Catholic Faith is the most important. In 2006, Tim and I were introduced to Saint Pope John Paul II’s teaching on Theology of the Body. This teaching brought us into a deeper understanding of our Faith and the beauty in the perfect integration of our bodies and souls. It is through Theology of the Body that I came to a deeper relationship with our beautiful Blessed Mother and the glory of the Rosary. Mary is continuously teaching me how to love and to live. We are all constantly learning as we journey towards heaven and we need the help of the Holy Spirit and our Blessed Mother to continue to be a light in the world. I am blessed to have found SoulCore. I can’t think of a more beautiful way to care for our bodies and souls than praying through physical movement. SoulCore has become a quiet place of renewal, clarity and strength. If we are to go out and be a light in this world, we must keep the flame within us lit.
