SOULCORE LEADER – SUSANNE

My name is Susanne, I’m a wife, a mother of 4 awesome children and proud grandmother of 2 with one more grandchild expected to arrive in April 2017. Led by the example of my mother and father who had a devout faith filled relationship with the Blessed Mother, I find myself living a life long journey striving toward a more personal relationship with Jesus through Mary. Personally I’m drawn to spiritual relationships with the Blessed Mother, St. Therese of Lisieux, and the holy souls in purgatory. Holy Infant Catholic Church in Ballwin, MO is my home parish; there I serve as a holy hour coordinator for our 24 hour Eucharistic Adoration chapel since 1998. Also I am involved with the prayer shawl ministry at my parish. I work full time and in my spare time enjoy teaching exercise, crochet, cross stitch, spending time with my husband, children and grandchildren, and reading the lives of the saints – drawing inspiration and strength from the example of their lives. As a certified group fitness instructor I have taught exercise since the 1980’s. To “minister to others through exercise” has been a calling that God put on my heart when I was in my late 20’s. I’ve strived to fulfill that calling throughout the years, am doing so currently, and most recently have been lead to SoulCore. When I was working at Regina Cleri, a home for retired priests, the office manager there (a co-worker and dear friend) introduced me to SoulCore. Without delay I went home and researched it on the internet, contacted the SoulCore leaders and filled out my application to attend the next SoulCore leadership retreat. I am humbled and feel privileged to share the SoulCore ministry in the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

SOULCORE LEADER – KATIE

The most important things to me are my family and my faith. Following these things are taking care of the great gift that we have been given, our body. Scripture tells us that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 6:19). We are called to take care of our body both physically and spiritually. Honor your body, that is what Soulcore is all about.
I have been an Occupational therapist for over 30 years. As an occupational therapist, my goal is to help people reach their goals to be the best they can be. Exercise has always been a big part of my life. I have been a runner for most of my life but discovered the beauty of pilates style of exercise in the last 5 years. I love that it strengthens your whole body and actually allows you to do other exercises with greater strength and agility.

My parents both had a great devotion to Mary and always found comfort in praying the Rosary. Recently, I have discovered the beauty and peace in praying the Rosary. When I discovered Soulcore, I thought it was the perfect blend. I am always in search of ways to strengthen my faith life. I always have good intentions to pray more but in our busy lives something always gets the short hand. Soulcore was the perfect answer, combining prayer with core focused exercise. One of the things that I like about core centered exercise is that it is so grounding and then you add in the prayer and reflection and it takes it to a whole new level. When I find something that I love, I always want to share it with people. So It made perfect sense for me to become a leader. I love to help people and I think the two perfect ways to be your best self is to stay active physically and spiritually.

I have been a parishioner at St. Catherine Laboure for over 20 years. I have been married for over 30 years and have four grown children. I am excited to share this with my friends and parish community.
