My name is Kalan. I live in Urbandale with my husband Grant. We have been married for 20 years and have 3 children. Anna, Ellen and Lucas.
I grew up in a large Irish Catholic family of eleven.
My grandparents lived a special devotion to our Blessed Mother from the beginning of their marriage. They both attended daily mass together for over 70 years offering everyone an extraordinary example of true devotion to their faith without words.
My grandfather survived a plane crash shortly after my parents married, that left him in a wheelchair. He suffered debilitating phantom pains in his legs for over 50 years yet never complained or wished his misfortune away. He dedicated his creativity and free time carving, painting and creating countless Marion statues, crucifixes and memorabilia out of wood. He and my grandmother offered up every suffering they endured in the name of Jesus. Their devotion to our Blessed Mother was activated through praying the rosary daily and encouraging us all to do the same. I have always felt a deep connection to our Blessed Mother and the rosary yet, it wasn’t until I was older that I could appreciate more fully the beauty and richness of this powerful prayer.
I was holding tight to our Blessed Mother after my father passed away and found myself through a series of introductions meeting a woman who was working tirelessly to bring SoulCore to Iowa. I am truly honored to be able to help lead this sacred prayer!
Nothing makes Mary happier then when we gather to pray the rosary.
“Never be afraid of loving the Blessed Virgin too much. You can never love her more than Jesus did.” -St. Maximillian Kolbe
Come join me in this celebration of love!
