“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35)
We are not meant to walk in our faith journey alone. We were created for community, in all aspects of our lives. From the very beginning, community has been a key part of what it means to follow Christ. In the Acts of the Apostles, we see the early Christians coming together to pray, share meals, and care for each other’s needs. That sense of togetherness reflects who God is, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, a relationship of love. When we gather for Mass, volunteer at church, or simply connect with others who share our faith, we’re living out that same spirit of communion.
Being part of a faith community helps us stay grounded. Life has its ups and downs, and it’s in those tough moments that community really matters. A kind word, a shared prayer, or someone just being there can make all the difference. Community encourages us to keep growing, to serve others, and to stay close to God. Each of us brings something unique to the table, and when we come together, we help each other become more fully the people God created us to be.
More than just helping us personally, living in community is a powerful witness to the world around us. Jesus said people would recognize His followers by the way we love one another, and that love is something our world really needs to see. In a time when so many feel isolated or disconnected, a warm, welcoming, faith-filled community can be a sign of hope and a glimpse of God’s kingdom. So let’s keep showing up for each other, building each other up, and remembering that whenever we gather in His name, Jesus is right there with us.
