Response to each: Lord, form in us a generous heart.

That we may recognize every gift – spiritual, physical, and material – as entrusted to us by You, and be willing to share them in love, remembering the words in 1 Peter 4:10 “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another.”

Lord, form in us a generous heart.

That we may never forget You are the source of every good thing, and live in a posture of humble gratitude, as we read in James 1:17: “Every good and perfect gift is from above.”

Lord, form in us a generous heart.

That we may give sacrificially, not measuring the cost, but trusting that You are our provider, as we are reminded in Acts 20:35: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

Lord, form in us a generous heart.

That we may serve with pure intentions, seeking no recognition but only to glorify You, just as we’re instructed in Matthew 6:3: “But when you give…do not let your left hand know what your right is doing.”

Lord, form in us a generous heart.

That we may steward our bodies as temples of Your Spirit and care for others with wisdom and compassion, as written in 1 Corinthians 6:19: “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you?”

Lord, form in us a generous heart.

That we may hold nothing too tightly, but live with hands open to give and receive in trust, as you remind us in Matthew 10:8: “Freely you have received; freely give.”

Lord, form in us a generous heart.

That we may align our days with the Gospel, and orient our lives to what truly matters, loving You and loving others, as it is written in Matthew 6:33: “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.”

Lord, form in us a generous heart.

That our giving may reflect Your kindness, cheerful, gracious, and full of mercy, as we read in 2 Corinthians 9:7 “God loves a cheerful giver.”

Lord, form in us a generous heart.

That our eyes may be open to the everyday miracles of Your providence, following the wisdom in Psalm 103:2: “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.”

Lord, form in us a generous heart.

That we may discover the freedom that generosity unlocks, a heart unburdened and full of joy, as is proclaimed in Proverbs 11:25: “The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.”

Lord, form in us a generous heart.

That we may imitate the widow’s offering, giving from the depths of our need, not our surplus, imitating Mark 12:44: “She, out of her poverty, has put in everything she had.”

Lord, form in us a generous heart.

That we may joyfully accept our unique gifts and use them to build Your Kingdom, as scripture tells us in Romans 12:6: “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.”

Lord, form in us a generous heart.

That thanksgiving may rise as our constant prayer, even in trials and waiting, as commanded in 1 Thessalonians 5:18: “Give thanks in all circumstances.”

Lord, form in us a generous heart.

That we may live content with what we need, and seek simplicity rooted in wisdom, remembering the words in Hebrews 13:5: Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Lord, form in us a generous heart.

That we may grow ever deeper in love with You, the God of all generosity, and hold nothing back, as it is written in Matthew 22:37: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.”

Lord, form in us a generous heart.

Closing Prayer

O gracious God, who so generously lavishes our lives with goodness, breathe in us a spirit of gratitude that anchors our hearts in You. May our posture be one of surrender – open hands, open hearts – ready to offer every breath, every gift, every moment for Your glory.

Remind us, Lord, that You are near, especially in our moments of greatest need, and that You delight in our joyful offerings. May our lives become living prayers of thanksgiving, generosity, and love. Amen.
